Remotely triggered cameras are a great way to passively capture some close up snaps of some of our more elusive and charismatic creatures. It's still early days in our explorations of the rainforests at Girralong Rainforest Retreat; but we have started to catalogue a list of birds, mammals, frogs and reptiles that call this place home. In only 3 short visits the bird list has already grown to 94 species and we are sure this will quickly expand as the seasons change.
Here's a look at some of our more frequent visitors.

February is a great time to visit......
Many rainforest trees produce an abundance of fruit that attract a variety of colourful bird species. White-headed pigeons and large flocks of Topknot pigeons have been gorging themselves on the bounty. Little Red Flying-Fox have also been regular visitors dining out on what the forest has to offer. Much fruit has been knocked to the ground, such as these Lilly Pilly fruits, adding some additional splash of colour. |
